When it comes to keeping your family safe and healthy, it’s important to buy the best quality products for your home. This includes hypoallergenic laundry detergent for those with skin issues or allergies, but they’re always so expensive.

- All® Free Clear. This mid-priced laundry detergent is readily available in most laundry detergent aisles. Manufactured by Sun Products, it’s a good all-purpose detergent that performs well in removing everyday soil.
- Babyganics. This green laundry detergent comes from a line that also includes dryer sheets, sunscreen, hand and dish soap, and cleaning products. According to Spruce, the detergent removes most stains, except oil. Babyganics is available anywhere that specializes in children's products like Babies R Us.
- Charlie's Soap. Manufactured by a family-owned company in North Carolina, this hypoallergenic laundry detergent is available in powder and liquid formulas online. Made with natural ingredients, it’s effective for the whole load, including cloth diapers.
- Country Save. This hypoallergenic laundry detergent contains no optical brighteners, fragrances, or dyes in its liquid and powder formulas. The line also includes dish soap, powder bleach, and powder oxygen. The detergent is most often included in military care packages due to its safe ingredients, but you can find it online.
- Dropps®. Often offered in single-dose packets in several formulas, Dropps Scent + Dye Free is best for anyone with skin and allergy issues. Dropps is readily accessible online.
- Eco Nuts Organic Laundry Detergent. This USDA Organic product uses “nuts,” which are dried berries from a tree found in India. These berries contain saponin, a natural cleaning agent that gently and effectively cleans various fabrics. It contains no other chemicals and is safe for those with nut allergies.
- Ecos Free & Clear. This green laundry product is free of 1,4 Dioxane; petrochemicals; phosphate; and formaldehyde. While guarding colors and gently cleaning fabrics, coconut oil-based Ecos is ideal for High Efficiency (HE) front and top-loading washers. Its concentration is designed to quickly remove stains with one ounce per HE load.
- Ecover. In tests done by The Sweethome, the Zero Laundry Powder was the most effective fragrance- and dye-free detergent, removing everything from blood to oil. It’s also not animal tested, omits optical brighteners, and is cheaper than commercial detergents.
- FIT Organic. This product is made without synthetic detergents, polymers, or brighteners; 1,4 Dioxane; or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). It’s not animal tested and provides extra concentration with plant-based oil and natural mineral soap.
- Grab Green. Grab Green laundry products offer two formulas, one for delicates and another for everyday loads. All Grab Green products are free of scents, ammonia, chlorine, formaldehyde, phosphate, solvent, and dyes due to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Green Chemistry standards.
- Greenshield Organic. This product offers no synthetic preservatives, GMOs, or other harmful chemicals. There’s also a sensitive care version for baby clothes.
- The Honest Company. Laundry detergent is available in liquid and single-dose formulas as actress Jessica Alba and partners establish their green line of diapers and cleaning products for use around children.
Reviews say Honest works well on light soil but not heavy stains. It’s available at select Target stores and online. - Method. This concentrated hypoallergenic laundry detergent is offered in dye-free scented and unscented formulas. Reviews say it’s effective in removing soil and heavy stains.
- NaturOli Soap Nuts and Soap Berries. This product contains USDA Organic soap buds and berries. The saponin-rich nuts are harvested in India and Nepal, deseeded, and packed in a reusable muslin bag with a vial of concentrated juice to pre-treat stains or lingering smells.
- Purex. Free & Clear is manufactured by Henkel and is one of the few unscented and dye-free laundry detergents available on commercial shelves. A mid-priced detergent, Free & Clear is available in liquid and single dose pack formulas.
Reviews say it works well on normal laundry soil but needs an additional stain removal to tackle heavy stains.
- Rebel Green. This plant- and pure essential oil-based laundry detergent is natural, biodegradable, and chemical-free of phosphates, phthalates, parabens, and dyes. It’s a hypoallergenic laundry detergent for sensitive skin.
Rebel Green also offers fabric softener and sport wash and delicates wash laundry detergents.
- Seventh Generation. One bottle of natural, free, and clear detergent washes 99 loads. This green laundry detergent is made of 97 percent USDA Organic biobased stain-fighting product that’s made for sensitive skin. It has no fragrances, dyes, phosphate, gluten, or artificial brighteners in its plant-based formula that’s dermatologist tested.
